Our Calling:
To Encourage Believers to Work to Restore Sound Biblical Doctrine;
the Sovereignty of God,
the Preeminence of Scripture,
the Purifying Hope,
and Acceptable God centered Worship to the Christian Church that is in Tucson.
To proclaim the truths of Scripture that Salvation is
by Grace alone,
through Faith alone,
in Christ alone,
as revealed in the Scripture alone,
to the Glory of God alone.
To support and encourage one another in this work by teaching, accountability, exhortation and reproof.
It is the first duty of the Christian to understand correct theory--correct doctrine--and thereby implement correct practice. The failure of the teachers of the professing church to instruct the faithful in correct doctrine is the cause of the misconduct and cultural impotence of Christians. The Church's lack of power is the result of its lack of truth. The Gospel is the power of God, not religious experience or personal relationship. The Church has no power because it has abandoned the Gospel, the good news, for a religion of experientialism. Twentieth century American Christians are children carried about by every wind of doctrine, not knowing what they believe, or even if they believe anything for certain.
Titus 2
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,
12 instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,
13 looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,
14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
15 These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority Let no one disregard you.
We begin with the case of a group of Christians who are unable to find a sound church in their vicinity.
They may be recent converts; or, they may have embraced Reformed convictions that make it impossible for them, in good conscience, to remain within existing, questionable churches in their community.
"Would to God they had the courage to gather in the name of Jesus Christ wherever they are, and set up some sort of church, either in their houses or in those of their neighbors, to do in their place what we do here," Calvin.
2 Timothy 2
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
We are not interested in mere numbers but in the true unity of the church in knowledge and love of the truth of God
